  • Blue Cheese Crumbles. Another type of cheese to add to your board is blue cheese crumbles that will go along with the theme and taste great with your fruit and crackers.
  • String Cheese. Don’t forget to add some string cheese to the board to offer more of a variety for your guests.
  • Strawberries. Rinse a pint of strawberries and then add them to your board.
  • Blueberries. Rinse the blueberries with your strawberries and then add them to add a pop of blue to your board.
  • Dried Blueberries and Cranberries. These dried fruits taste great and offer more variety.

You’ll need a few other ingredients, such as a small watermelon chopped into pieces, a pint of raspberries, oyster crackers, club crackers or pita chips, and some white chocolate-covered pretzels.

Which type of white cheese do I need to use?

You can use any type of white cheese that you’d prefer. Swiss cheese is one great option. However, you can also use white mild or sharp cheddar cheese for your Patriotic Charcuterie. It’s important to use what you like!

Where can I find oyster crackers?

Oyster crackers are often available at grocery stores in the aisles with canned soups and crackers. They’re often in a bag, but you might find them in a large container. You might even find oyster crackers at the dollar store.

Which type of string cheese should I use?

You can buy any brand of string cheese that you like. If you’re not sure which brand is best, Sargento makes a delicious string cheese. Frigo Cheese Heads is another popular brand of string cheese.

Should I make the white chocolate-covered pretzels or buy them?

It’s completely up to you! You can make the white chocolate-covered pretzels by melting white almond bark or white chocolate chips and then dipping your pretzels in them. If you’d like to save yourself a bit of time, you can always buy them at the store.

Will I need any special equipment to make the Patriotic Charcuterie?

You won’t need a lot of equipment to make your Patriotic Charcuterie. However, you’ll need a large charcuterie board, small bowls for certain ingredients, and star-shaped cookie cutters to use when cutting your cheese.

Chef’s Notes

Just a few notes for you along the way first is to keep the crackers from getting soggy due to the fruit build bridges. Also, Using baby bel cheese to separate works in their casing or outside of it and chocolate-covered pretzels are another barrier to block moisture and the pretzels won’t get soggy due to the chocolate coating.

Lastly, you can use almost anything to create a charcuterie board: rectangle trays, a lazy Susan with or without the dishes that came with it. A large plastic tray. A large cutting board. Whatever you use, just make sure it’s sturdy to handle the weight of the board. Want to see a few of my favorite types of boards:
